Focusing on the design of high speed rail infrastructure, and supporting other sectors both in the UK and overseas. Part of a growing team of UK management staff delivering projects for a diverse portfolio of clients.I am currently leading delivery of the Systra scope within a joint venture, providing multi-disciplinary Main Works Civils design for the North area of High Speed 2 Phase 1. I provide project management and leadership of engineering and design deliverables, responsible to the Systra business and contractor client for a large multi-national team developing design for over 500No. assets.I am responsible for delivering in line with the programme and key input/output milestones, and to the approved budget approving cost forecast and managing change. I have overall management of risk and opportunities, striving for efficiencies across the joint venture, and provide safety leadership. The role is co-located in a project office with the ultimate Client and success in the role is built on effective collaboration with my Project Controls leads and three Engineering Managers as a delivery team.As well as approval in principle design delivery, I am leading finalisation of the Systra part of the joint venture proposal for detailed design. This includes aligning inputs and assumptions with the contract terms across a large team of contributors. My team is developing an innovative delivery model for the business to maximise effectiveness in meeting the volume and complexity demands of the project, and satisfy corporate and client governance. In parallel with my project role, I am working with senior function leads to develop the design management and project management tools and capabilities for the business.

This position has focused on two roles, currently as the Design Manager for Structures, Highways, Track and Utilities on East West Rail Phase 2 and previously as a Management Consultant on the High Speed 2 Main Works Civils Contracts Capability Programme. In addition to project work, leads the Birmingham Project Management team and undertakes Key Account Management.A project leader in Atkins’ Transportation centre of excellence for the design of highway and rail infrastructure projects. Part of a team aiming to be the first choice designer for local and national highway authorities, Network Rail, contractors and developers. Taking the lead on adding to an expanding portfolio of challenging UK transportation projects, working in collaborative models with clients and partners. Engaging with clients, developing relationships and opportunities, directing and managing bids and delivering project outcomes to delighted clients. Responsible for checking that the very highest engineering and safety standards are met on each project. Also, making sure work is always environmentally responsible and time / cost-effective, as well as being in accordance with in-house standards and relevant legislation

Lead the safe delivery of projects to achieve cost, time and quality objectives within corporate guidelines and to develop appropriate delivery and supply strategies and plans for specific projects.

Undertaking of outline design, design checks and detailed design calculations for a portfolio of overbridge repair, strengthening and reconstruction schemes. Led detailed bridge assessments and produced feasibility studies for bridge schemes. Organised and carried out site investigation works. Site Engineer, Project Engineer and Project Management experience all gained as part of the Atkins Graduate Programme.
