I provided Safety from the System, for main station electrical and mechanical items of Plant and Apparatus whose ultimate purpose is to supply energy. I carry out Audits, to ensure standards are maintained within the Permit Office. I have been part of the department’s improvement project working with ‘Partners in Performance’ and ‘Lean Manufacturing and Resourcing’. I am a Safety coordinator, coordinating safety precautions at Drax’s interconnections with other Companies' Plant and Apparatus.

I was responsible for enabling the 2000MW station to be made safe for demolition. As a ‘safety controller and team manager’, I controlled and coordinated a zero harm safe system of work, promoting safe working practices and exercising environmental diligence in line with statutory and mandatory requirements.

I managed team activities & resources, ensuring all activities were carried out with full regard to statutory regulations, directives, procedures, Safety Rules and Site (IPC) authorisation. I ensured that team resources, processes and activities were managed to maintain the effective commercial operation of the 2000MW electro/mechanical generating system, whilst optimising thermal performance within the applicable operating regime. I maintained an effective working relationship with Energy Trading and a commercially sound interface with National Grid. I provided support for the preparation of business plans, working with other teams to progress engineering solutions for plant & safety issues, in line with allocated plant audit areas. I ensured all routine testing was completed to appropriate schedules and accurately recorded.

As Senior Safety Controller, I co-ordinated the planning of the 2016 summer outages on three 500MW Units and a complete station shutdown for the Production Department. All of this work was in preparation for meeting the increasing demands for reliability which were placed upon the station under National Grid’s Supplementary Balancing Reserve contract.

I was the station’s main interface with Shift Trading Team (STT). I communicated with all groups on the station. The role included the awareness of real or potential threats and commercial information that may affect the availability, generation or efficiency of the Units. I chaired the Plant Review Meeting, supplied meeting materials, took and distributed actions. I was the station’s interface with National Grid through liason meetings. I updated existing and prepared new station documents (PDAs, Procedures etc.) relating to the commercial operation.

My responsibilities were the operation of 500MW coal fired units and associated plant. Acted as designated person under the stations safety rules in the release and return of plant for maintenance.Responsible for plant checks and inspections including preparing plant for start-up / shut-down.Diagnosed plant problems, coached staff and carried out routine testing and recording.

Working within the management team, my main responsibilities were to provide up to date job costing figures for the provision of Civil, Electrical and Utility Engineering Services. I controlled wages information and carried out training and development of staff. I liaised with site agents to achieve maximum productivity of the work force.

Responsible for safe and efficient operation, maintenance and commissioning of Europe's first Biomass Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle power plant.Implemented Q4 RCM Reliability Centered Maintenance Program.

Successfully implemented a preventative maintenance system for the new manufacturing plant / process of aerated concrete blocks.
