Simon originally qualified as a barrister, and subsequently joined the commercial litigation department of Lewis Silkin where he was admitted as a solicitor in 2003. Simon joined Charles Fussell & Co LLP in March 2011 and became a partner on 1 July 2012.Simon acts in all areas of commercial litigation, arbitration and expert determination. His practice has a particular emphasis upon disputes with banks and financial institutions, especially disputes arising from guarantees, claims for professional negligence, especially of solicitors in respect of corporate and property transactional work, and disputes arising out of commercial fraud. He also has significant experience of insolvency disputes, shareholder and partnership disputes and contentious property matters.Simon has led teams of lawyers, including Counsel, junior associates and paralegals, on substantial matters, including a recent multi-million pound trial in the London Mercantile Court which concerned setting aside numerous transactions designed to put assets beyond the reach of judgment creditors and involved organising a worldwide freezing injunction against two parties and related enforcement proceedings in Malaysia. Throughout his career, Simon has conducted his own advocacy as well as drafting pleadings and skeleton arguments.
