Head of Finance and Company Secretary at a highly skilled engineered precision plastics manufacturer who develop solutions for applications across many sectors from leisure to aerospace. As well as looking after the numbers from day to day control to the board papers via the monthly management reporting and statutory accounts, I also contribute to many areas of the business that only a career in SMEs can offer; including IT, contract review and costing, agreeing NDAs, purchasing and HR.

After 16 loyal years of service a reduction in capacity across the group saw manufacturing removed from the UK resulting in a big redundancy exercise. After successfully delivering the project ahead of time and under budget, I took my exit with the last 3 to leave along with the MD.During my time at Voith I grew from Company Accountant to effectively being FD, including head of finance and part of the Senior Management Team and sitting on the local Board for 12 years.With exports being 70% of turnover I gained a good understanding of international trade and dealing with business in multiple currencies. With sales including large value contracts to the supply of spare parts, I have extensive knowledge of both long term contract costing and sale from stock product costing. With involvement in cross company decisions from wearing many hats including IT, HR, Commercial matters, Contracts, R&D, Capex and payroll. I also held the responsibility of dealing with many external stakeholders such as banks, insurance and auditors.

Gained a thorough grounding in Management Accounting across many sectors of the company, including stays at the sister company in France. In four years progressed to the main accountant for the company’s biggest division.
