About Simona Spadafora
I have got a degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures with experience in various work sectors. During my studies I preferred either short-term jobs or I worked occasionally because my priority was attending compulsory lessons (mainly foreign language lectures). Between 2005 and 2013 I gained experience as data entry, customer care, promoter, holiday entertainer, cashier, back office and banking operator. These job opportunities taught me how to be flexible because I had to learn specific working skills in a relatively short time; I also improved my adaptation skills because of the short duration of each contract. After finishing my studies I decided to specialise in school and professional training, both in classroom and e-learning. Indeed, a publishing company hired me for an internship where I was in charge of professional training of bank clerks (English at a B1 level CEFR) and the creation of e-learning resources for Italian as a second language , English and safety courses. During the above mentioned internship I improved my knowledge of Microsoft Office and learnt how to use publishing programs such as Subtitle Edit. In 2014 I passed the Ditals 1 exam , which certifies skills in teaching ISL for specific profiles of learners (adults and immigrants in my case). I have been teaching English in secondary schools since 2014. This job requires great communication skills on many levels (communication with families, students, coworkers, school admin). Furthermore you need to develop great adaptation and organization skills in the preparation of lectures, tests, evaluation, meetings and courses which are not scheduled at the beginning of the school year. However, the most important personal skills you need to develop are empathy and emotional intelligence, which are foundamental for an effective teaching. My greatest strengths are reliability, managing skills, punctuality, flexibility and the enthusiasm necessary to start a new job.
