After a decade of experience in Higher Education, I am pursuing a second career in healthcare as a Nurse. As a 2022 graduate of the COPE Health Scholarship Program, I gained experience in the healthcare field by working over 450 hours in 7 different units at Mission Hospital in Orange County, CA. In early 2023, my family relocated to Billings, Montana. I have become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Montana, and I am seeking a CNA position in a Billings hospital while I finish completing the coursework required to apply to local Nursing Programs.My first career was in higher education. I spent more than 10 years designing and teaching university courses in Technical and Professional Writing, Rhetoric and Composition, English as a Second Language (ESL), Academic English, and other subjects. I am experienced in instructional and curriculum design for face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses, and I have used a wide range of LMSs and teaching technologies throughout my time in education. For 7 years, I also directed all aspects of a university writing center and its staff. My educational background and professional experience in academia have developed my exceptional written and verbal communication skills and ability to succeed in collaborative environments. I have a deep and technical understanding of the English language system and the ability to write effectively in many styles and genres. I am also a highly proficient copy editor with a keen eye for detail and a familiarity with several formatting and documentation styles.My educational background includes a BA in Linguistics from Western Washington University and a MA in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) from the University of Idaho. I am a native speaker of Swiss German and have conversational proficiency and basic literacy in French. I have also taught English as a Foreign Language internationally in Japan with the JET Program.
