PONTI Project: Social and economic inclusion, young people and women, innovation and diasporas” aims at contributing to counteract the root causes of migration in Senegal and Ethiopia, through the promotion of the employment of women and young generations and the enhancement of the role of diasporas in the promotion of development in the countries of origin.The project, co-funded by the Ministry of the Interior, mobilizes a rich partnership, consisting of 20 Italian and international NGOs, diasporas associations, grassroots organizations and local institutions, cooperatives and GIE. All the actors involved in the project are involved in the strengthening of the resilience of communities at high migration risk. Through the involvement of the diasporas and the transfer of skills and professional and financial skills, they will contribute to the creation of new jobs and investment opportunities in sustainable and high added value productive sectors.

I started to work at the Italian Cooperation Office of the Italian Embassy in Rabat in the frame of the Support Programme for Regional Cooperation in the Mediterranean Area in January 2010 and I was in charge of Monitoring and Coordination of several projects funded by Italian Government and Local Authorities. Namely I was the Focal point in Morocco for all initiatives, programmes and projects related with decentralized cooperation supported by the Italian local Authorities, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Inter-regional Observatory on Development Co-operation (OICS).As Morocco Focal Point for the Italian Regional Cooperation Programme “Support Programme for Regional Cooperation - Mediterranean Countries”, financed, I undertook successfully different tasks:• management of the local international and national partnerships• logistic assistance of the missions in Morocco• organization of meetings, seminars, conferences etc.• processing and application of monitoring instruments• compilation of reports and research papers about the Region for the development of new projects proposals.

Maroc

The project “Diffusion of traditional handicraft knowledge and integration of the production systems in Morocco and Italy” aimed to contribute to the socio-economic development of both countries, promoting development of typical operators' skills in the handicraft sector. Particularly, in Morocco we worked with local civil society organizations and Italian Experts developing women's participation and entrepreneurial capacities among rural women's cooperatives. The project helped women to increase, diversify and promote their production. As Morocco Coordinator I collaborated with Integrated Project Coordinator and all the Partners in different tasks:• management of the local international and national partnerships• logistic assistance of the missions in Morocco• organization of meetings, seminars, conferences etc.• process and application of monitoring instruments• assistance in the compilation of reports and research papers about the Region• collaboration with the Development Cooperation Office of The Italian Embassy in Rabat to coordinate the Regional and Territorial Cooperation Activities

I have had the possibility to work as an internship co-operator at the Italian General Consulate in Casablanca, Morocco.My main duties were to collaborate in the Vital Records and Citizenship Office. Moreover, I was in charge of the Consulate’s web site, which I kept up to date, with regard to Cultural activities and general news. Finally, I drew an analysis of both the critical aspect of polygamous marriages and family reunification visas and migration flows.

Morocco, Figuig

I worked as consultant in a development project, sponsored by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs “Rehabilitation of Cultural Heritage Oasis of Figuig” n. 8665/MA70/MARMain duties: • Management of the project and coordination of the local team. • On-field team training on project management and project cycle.I also contributed to the realization of a development project based on the fostering of sustainable touristic activities. I have selected local associations (and elaborated selection criteria) in order to involve them in the project's activities; I organized a training and participative process involving local cooperatives of women in order to promote practical and bureaucratic actions for the admission in fair trade networks. Furthermore, I handled the documentation centre's activities and updated the programme's website.

Formez's activities at the international level aim to facilitate an exchange of experience in order to introduce new systems compliant with EU standards and regulations and to establish shared communication channels between partner countries. Particularly, I was in charge of monitoring and controlling project budgets (Twinning Projects), accounting, and updating the web site (http://cooperazione.formez.it) for the Middle East and Mediterranean region. I also assisted in organizing foreign missions for experts working on the projects.Contributing to International Office activities, I studied The Project Cycle Management, particularly EU-funded Twinning Project in North Africa and Middle East.
