Simona is an Earth & Community Activist who loves living permaculture every day and loves growing in the gardens with her community. Building resilient communities, advocating for sustainability and promoting diversity are solid pillars in her life. Simona obtained her Permaculture Design Certificate in 2015 in Kootenays, BC. Since 2017, Simona has found herself leading a community garden network in Grey Bruce Region including the famous Gleaning Program as well as organizing outdoor and food growing events for children, youth and the wider community. Simona recognizes that food security, community health and environmental sustainability are closely connected fields that need to be addressed together on individual as well as on a community level. That's why she facilitates volunteers and good growing ambassadors around Grey Bruce County to bring fresh and local produce to the vulnerable community members but also takes on green projects with Transition Meaford. She is actively connecting food banks, meal programs, community gardens, various local farmers along with local food advocates to mobilize communities and other partners of the local food system. Shaping these connections is her way to respect the Earth, care for the People and share surpluses.
