I am responsible for the work package dedicated to the VLEO Space Weather Measurements (ION) payload which focuses on the research of technologies suitable to characterize the space environment in order to contribute to studies about the impact that ionosphere environment has on a space mission and, consequently, to update Space Weather statistical models. In particular, I had the chance to work on currents available technologies for atomic oxygen measurements on orbit, having contacts with experts and researchers who made me aware of the serious damages that atomic oxygen can cause on satellites.
