Within 11 months of joining Oxford Archaeology as a Graduate Trainee, I quickly surpassed the role of Archaeologist and was promoted to Assistant Supervisor. This shows great testament to my development within the company and the increased responsibilities delegated to me by supervisors and project officers. I am now heavily involved as a GPS surveyor and am taking on more advanced roles on site such a machine watching, leading toolbox talks and mentoring new graduate trainees. This is on top of excavation and recording. I was enrolled on the geomatics placement during which time I expanded upon my existing land surveying skills with an introduction to the use of a total station and processing software.

Initially employed to digitize agricultural maps for the Rural Payments Agency in order to standardize farming subsidies across Europe. The work involves adhering to a dense and frequently updating protocol to ensure high quality and continuity for each job. Using GIS software, the Land Management System, in conjunction with Aerial Photography, Ordnance Survey and Remote Sensing, I capture agricultural features which determines the subsidies received by the farmer. In May 2016, I was promoted the role of Quality Checker as a result of consistently proven quality and productivity. My new role requires me to evaluate the work of the digitizers within my team and ensure that they have completed their work sufficiently. There is also an element of teaching the protocol to my colleagues and advising them on their work.

During my final year of university, I was able to manage my academic and social time sufficiently so to work up to 3 shifts a week in a cafe on campus.Responsibilities included: serving customers, preparing food and drink, delivering food when necessary, cleaning around the cafe, hygiene and allergy awareness.
