Specifically feasibility studies, project management, organisational design and due diligence.Longcliffe Quarries• Produced a preliminary feasibility study report to assess the potential for manufacturing Lime products. Reviewed the quarry material balance to establish limestone feed PSD for lime burning. Assessed different kiln technologies and downstream processes including hydration and a grinding facility. Breedon Aggregates• Led the cement team through the £250m Lafarge/Tarmac due diligence process. Managed a team of consultants in reviewing all relevant operational information including plant efficiency, environmental performance, safety record, planning restrictions and community relationship. Prepared a detailed report of findings together with summary recommendations.

Operations Director with P&L responsibility for an integrated Cement, Lime and Chemical Stone facility producing in excess of 5mte of chemical and construction grade stone, 1mte of cement, 600kte of lime and a nationwide distribution network with an annual turnover in excess of £150m and 400 staff. Reporting to the Managing Director leading a senior team to achieve the best in class safety record and maximise the operational performance through tight cost control and profit generation within a 24/7 environment. Responsible for achieving significant annual operational cost savings by embedding a site wide continuous improvement culture employing Lean Manufacturing techniques. Developed a critical investment proposal which successfully updated operational equipment and enhanced performance.

Led a project team of 10 people and directed equipment manufacturers to design, build, construct and commission a new cement plant and depot infrastructure at a contract cost of £115m.Ensured that the design met operational and safety requirements and that site safety and installation standards were maintained.Saved £5m below budgeted capital cost through adherence to the contract and ensuring that the requisite financial controls and stage payment mechanism were in place resulting.

Lead team of 50 staff to produce 300kte cement annually. P&L responsibility for the operation with a turnover of £9m. Responsible for improving the overall output and plant reliability whilst ensuring environmental compliance.
