In April 2017 I began consulting on projects for World Services - a specialist division of M&C Saatchi.Together with their local partners, the focus is on tackling some of humanity's most challenging and important problems, in fragile states and developing countries. The primary objective is to harness the power of cutting-edge marketing, communications and creativity, so that they become key tenets of behaviour change activity throughout the International Development sector.I advise on a variety of subjects and disciplines including audio, technology, branding and team management. The role is a marked change from what I am used to, and while being tremendously challenging, it's one I find very interesting and ultimately rewarding.

Head Of Imaging

Birmingham, United Kingdom

Station Producer | November 2009 – January 2012Another big move, and this time to one of the oldest and most famous radio brands in the UK. Under new, independent ownership, it was a very exciting time to join BRMB, and the other brands in the Orion stable – Beacon, Mercia and Wyvern.I joined the imaging team, responsible for copy writing and producing engaging audio imaging and trails to create on strong, consistent audio identity across all brands. The role also included substantial work on local and national client briefs to develop promotional on and off air marketing campaigns and events. Some of the most memorable aspects of the role included interviewing celebrity guests for special ‘takeover’ and documentary programmes; producing live music sessions and events along with various live and pre-recorded shows and news specials featuring the then Prime Minister.Head of Imaging | February 2012 – July 2016After the rebranding of the group’s stations to Free Radio and Gem in 2012, I became Head of Imaging responsible for devising and developing the station’s on-air brand image, managing a team based across several different sites and reporting directly into the Directors. The role made me a key figure in the programme and marketing management team, tasked with developing brand strategy through creative on-air and offline marketing content such as events and commercially led promotions. It was an extremely wide ranging role which required me to work on many varying projects simultaneously and constantly achieve deadlines meaning I project managed several multi-faceted promotions, events and initiatives concurrently. Regular analysis of audience data and trends ensured I kept the department’s strategy going in the right direction. The nature of the role meant it fed into all departments so I fostered close internal working relationships, along with external clients, stakeholders, agencies and senior marketeers.

Group Executive Producer

Ashford, Kent

Towards the end of my time at Invicta FM, I was looking for a new challenge. The local competitors came calling, and the opportunity to take up the role of Group Executive Producer was one I couldn't turn down. The position took me out of my comfort zone, working in a multi-media business, but specialising in bringing new thinking to the group's seven stations. My main duties involved overseeing the group's network programming, booking guests, coaching the presenters and creating content. I also looked after some of the online presence and worked with newspaper side of the business to create synergies and opportunities to cross promote and share resources.Another element of the role involved being part of an executive committee charged with devising new revenue streams across all areas of the business.

Feb 2009 - Sep 2009

Station Producer / Acting Programme Controller

Whitstable, Kent

I took on the challenge of helping taking one of the countries most famous local radio stations back to its former glories in 2006.Looking forward to a new challenge at the other end of the country, I began my time at Invicta FM as Station Producer. My role encompassed creating the audio identity of the station through audio imaging, promos, trails and jingles...... as well as being heavily involved in the commercial programming side of the business, creating bespoke sponsorship and promotion solutions for local and national clients.Towards the end of my time at Invicta FM, the station came under new ownership, leading me to step into the role of Acting Programme Controller for almost a year. In this time there were several large challenges to contend with, including on-air changes, changes to systems and new commercial pressures, which I managed to overcome, before I handed the role onto a new manager from the new parent company.Under my tenure, the station went from strength to strength, achieving the best audience figures in recent history and more than one in three people in the area listening to the station each week.Under the new Programme Controller, I continued to look after the day to day running of the station.

Feb 2006 - Jan 2009

Station Producer

Hull, United Kingdom

I started working at Viking FM as a keen volunteer, saying yes to any opportunity that came my way, in order to learn the trade. Most of my early work here was as a 'tech-op' - Ensuring the integrity of local output during networked programming, branding the station where appropriate, and playing the local advertising out at the correct junctions. After I'd proved myself, I was offered the position of producer of the new late show - A personality-led talk show. As I had little experience of this type of programming, I was really thrown in at the deep end! I quickly built a close working relationship with the presenter and went on to produce a unique and successful show of which I am still very proud of.In this time, I also took on the role of weekend producer, looking after specialist weekend programming, and launched a new electronic music show called Viking Unlimited. After the late show presenter moved on to pastures new, I took on various different roles, producing the breakfast show and drive time show, as well as teaching myself the art of audio imaging. This lead to a stint as Commercial Producer, then my final role at Viking FM - Station Producer. Working closely with the Programme Controller, we devised a new sound for the station, as well as delivering high quality sponsorship and promotion solutions to local and national clients.

Sep 2001 - Jan 2006

Weekend Breakfast Producer

Galaxy 102

Manchester, United Kingdom

In 2003, I took on a freelance role at Galaxy 102 in Manchester, producing the new Sunday Breakfast Show. As I'd worked with the presenter before, and was excited about the challenge of working on a new radio format, I thrived in my short time in this role.Working closely with the presenter and programme management, we looked to try something a little bit different for the station - a more interactive, caller-led format.Listeners reacted positively to the idea, getting in touch at every opportunity, and even in the short period I worked on the show, the audience figures grew.
