CurrentSimon has been directing theatre and performance since 2009 with companies and on stand alone projects. Credits include:Multi Story Water (Shipley) - September 2012 + re staged due to success of previous run in July 2013.A site based performance devised using verbatim responses of local people discussing their relationship with their local waterways. In collaboration with professor Steve Bottoms.Foolish Men - 2012Created as part of West Yorkshire Playhouse's Summer Sublets and performed at Furnace 2012 Simon and co collaborator Matt Rogers asked what role men can or should take in current feminism. Three performances devised and directed with the cast of Escape:CYT 2010 - 2013:Faust O Man Fly! - An original and contemporary production devised in response to Christopher Marlowe's famous 16th century play ‘The Tragical History of Dr Faustus’. Tales of My Idiocy - A verbatim based performance which explored the ideas suggested by Augusto Boal in 'Theatre of The Oppressed' for a progressive youth theatre, including many of the casts own stories. Stories Like Snakes - A physical storytelling and verbatim show that explored young people's thoughts about morality and the stories that are supposed to teach it.The Lone and Level Sands - February 2009.Staged on a building site constructed within the iconic Leeds Parish Church, an original performance that responded to the life, death and deeds of King Herod the Great. A project that bridged the gap between secular and christian culture and past and current stories of empire and abusive dictators and autocrats. Devised with research and verbatim from a community cast.
