I am a CMIIA qualified Head of Internal Audit and Risk with over 25 years experience of providing outsourced and co-sourced internal audit services to the not-for-profit and private sectors. I am currently the Head of Internal Audit & Risk for Sage Homes and a non-executive Board member for Worthing Homes.In addition to my qualifications with the Institute of Internal Auditors (CMIIA), I also hold the International Certificate in Risk Management from the Institute of Risk Management (IRM).I joined Sage in October 2019 as the Head of Internal Audit and Risk. During my time at Sage I have been responsible for setting up the processes, systems and methodologies for the management of risk and internal audit. Prior to my role at Sage, I worked at BDO for 20 years providing outsourced internal audit and risk management, specialising in a number of sectors, including:• Education• Housing Associations• Charities• NDPBsI have also provided assurance services to clients operating in the commercial sector in areas such as royalty collection and distribution, mobile phone technology and financial services.In addition to internal audit and risk management, I have undertaken governance audits, EQAs, SoX audits, effectiveness reviews and process mapping. I have substantial experience of providing internal audit services within housing associations and was one of authors of the 2014 NHF publication 'Understanding assurance: a guide for housing association board members and non-finance executives'.Prior to working at BDO I provided internal audit to the NHS via an audit consortium.
