About Simon Carrier
Simon Carrier has been providing the key ingredient for motorsport success for nearly forty years. His experience in design was founded on first-hand experience of both track driving and as a rally co-driver. An opportunity with Lola Cars to advance the aerodynamic development of the Nissan R90C Le-Mans Sports Prototype car proved to be an excellent grounding to an ongoing professional career. Similar positions with Formula 1 teams Larrousse and Team Lotus furthered his reputation for producing dependable results. Following this, Simon advanced an interest in chassis and structure design, working within the motorsport operations of both Nissan and then Ford to produce Super Touring race cars. Prodrive then seconded him as Principal Designer for the acclaimed 2000 Subaru Impreza World Rally Car, culminating in Richard Burns’ championship title in 2001.After another contribution to Le Mans success with Reynard’s 02S Prototype Sports Car, Simon was to take over as Chief designer of Ford’s Focus World Rally Car, leading to world championship titles in 2006 and 2007.Founding the independent consultancy, SPC Design, in 2007 gave rise to numerous projects for automotive and motorsport manufacturers. Working increasingly closely with Toyota's motorsport division led on to his full-time appointment as Chief Designer at Toyota Gazoo Racing, consulting on the development of the GR Yaris road car and leading the design of the Yaris Rally1 World Rally Car which has dominated World Rallying, winning both the driver's and manufacturer's championships every year since it's introduction.While continuing to work with Toyota, Simon also runs the independent design consultancy SPC Ingenuity.
