I love problem solving. Or better yet, trying to ask the right question before anyone else has thought of it. Through 20+ years in brand and product development, I’ve realised you cannot go too far wrong so long as everything starts and ends with the customer. If you can dig into what makes them tick and solve their problems, you will always create new opportunities. In the very beginning, after a couple of false starts and a life-change, I went to university and landed my first proper job. My remit as Product Manager was ‘refresh an ageing brand, find new opportunities, the sky’s the limit’. This might have been scary when just starting out, but it felt like the keys to the kingdom. I successfully delivered a new product brand from scratch and built a completely new consumer category in the process. I went on to became a director and part-owner of that business, before we ultimately sold it on.Following that sale and exit, I took a short career break to travel South America and Asia. I got more than I bargained for on those travels, meeting my now-wife and living for a short while in Zurich, Switzerland. Then I got an invite from Sara Davies to work at Crafter’s Companion. Sara wasn’t a media personality at that point but (more interesting) she was building an award-winning business from the ground up. I took a position with Crafter’s as Head of Business Development, then went on to head up their Fine-Art division. During my time, the company enjoyed exponential growth and saw sales double. I grew sales on my end through extensive product development combined with influencer and licensed partnerships. All good things come to an end. For now, I am between jobs, making the most of the extra family time, walking the dog a bit more than usual and looking forward to the next chapter.I am an adaptable and hands-on senior manager; I have a naturally broad skill-set that comes in very handy at times. But my main passions are brand and product, with customer always front and centre, reminding us why we are all here.
