The course helped me further my programming knowledge (especially in JavaScript, CSS, MongoDB, HTML and React.js) and consisted of daily stand-ups, code-alongs, labs, paired and group programming, and development projects.Project 4 → Shipwrecked (1 week, paired project)Full-stack RPG using Django, Python, JavaScript and React. I wanted to create a project that utilised a database in a different way so came up with the idea of an RPG. I was responsible for database and app design as well as the writing of the game itself. The project provided a creative solution to a project brief and provided significant opportunities to embed learning from across the SEI course.Project 3 → One Day In… (1 week, group project (3 people))Full-stack MERN app with CRUD capability. As a group, we created an app to advise travellers on what to do with just one day to spend in various global cities. We all worked full-stack, but I focussed on backend functionality, frontend design, and site navigation working with React.js, Bootstrap, MongoDB, and Node.js in particular.Project 2 → Crunch (2 days, paired project)React.js app that used the external Numbers API. Our app generated random facts about user-inputted numbers. The entire project was pair-coded and was invaluable in terms of embedding core skills in JavaScript, React Hooks, CSS, and Node.js.Project 1 → Snake Raiders (1 week, individual project)Grid-based space invaders game built in JavaScript, CSS, and HTML. The game was challenging to create and particularly valuable in terms of the process of immersing myself in the entire programming process and working to solve problems. The ‘Indiana Jones’ theme of the design was huge fun to create and helped to solidify my passion for the design process. Show less
