About Simon Mead

I am a highly organised person with proven leadership skills. All of my roles have involved working closely with many internal and external stakeholders. They have also involved high levels of scrutiny and tight deadlines. In particular, more recently I have developed very strong strategy, advocacy and leadership skills. In these high pressure environments I have learnt the power of a team approach to all aspects of work. I enjoy helping organisations which face strong internal or external challenges or where significant change has to be managed. This is where my strategic and team oriented skills are of particular value.

Australian Labor Party (Wa) Sep 2008 - Jul 2015
The most senior executive in charge of the Labor Party in Western Australia.Key achievements: Change management• Rebranded the ALP (WA Branch) as WA Labor. Commissioned & analysed detailed research which made clear the old name was confusing and harming Labor’s electoral prospects. To ensure success thousands of stakeholders had to be persuaded on the need for change. After more than 100 years it was a large project which included all new logo designs, new messaging & a large increase in social media activity.• Modernised the membership experience. Analysed the problem then implemented a two year strategy which included changing Party rules and staff focusing on membership as a customer experience. Then built a new cloud based membership database, with monthly payment options, a first for Labor in Australia.• Increased legal compliance. Undertook a risk audit which identified a compliance deficit with taxation & electoral disclosure laws. This was due to the disparate nature of local branches run by volunteers. Solved it by commissioning and implementing an internal finance & banking website to hold all financial records in one place for the first time.Key responsiblitiesCampaign DirectorAdministrative managementStakeholder managementManagement of the Labor Business Roundtable
