I was responsible for marketing and communication activities in the Dutch market for ruminants. Furthermore I participated in global and local marketing projects enhancing the De Heus brand.

As a housing association Portaal has a public service mission: provide good and affordable housing in a nice neighborhood. In everything we do we take into account the interests of society, our employees and other stakeholders. In my role as senior communications advisor I focussed on the housing market in two major Dutch cities: Arnhem and Nijmegen. I also had a regional responsibility for internal communications and media relations. Nation wide I advised on reputation issues and sustainability and I participated in the large solar project 'Zonnig Portaal'.

The Environmental Sciences Group (ESG) is one of the five science groups of Wageningen University & Research centre. The ESG consists of the department of Environmental Sciences of Wageningen University, the independant ISRIC foundation and the world class research institute Alterra. As a member of the management team, I was responsible for all marketing and communication activities. I led a small team (3 people) and in addition used staff from an outsourced flexible unit. I worked in close cooperation with Corporate Communications & Marketing of Wageningen UR and with colleagues at other science groups. My tasks were strategic, tactic and operational in the field of branding, marketing campaigns, customer satisfaction, relationship management, reputation and issue management and internal communications.

Foodservice wholesale company Deli XL is part of Bidvest, an international services, trading and distribution company based in South Africa. As Manager Corporate Communications I was responsible for corporate and internal communications, while reporting to the board. I led a small team and my tasks were both operational/tactical (eg. customer relationship magazine, social media, PR) as well as strategic (eg. advice on restructurings, acquisitions, CSR-policies, reputation management, intellectual property, internet strategy, branding).

Foodservice wholesale company Deli XL is part of Bidvest, an international services, trading and distribution company based in South Africa. As Communications Manager I was responsible for corporate and internal communications, while reporting to the Director of Marketing & E-commerce.

Baker & McKenzie is the world’s largest law firm. In my role as advisor I supported the director Business Development & Communications of the Amsterdam office in marketing research, public relations, recruitment activities, reputation management, pitches / tenders and writing articles. I had specific responsibility for internet, intranet, the (local) visual identity program, e-marketing and customer relationship management (CRM).

From intrinsic motivation to contribute to society I volunteered for the Korps Nationale Reserve (Dutch National Guard). I quit after two years of service, because my regular job was hard to combine with my army activities.

I graduated in Communications (Bachelor) with a research thesis on the need for information and possibilities to enhance the communication in the international supply chain of pharmaceutical company Organon, at that time a subsidiary of AkzoNobel. During this research I visited several European factories. Afterwards I implemented some of the given recommendations.

In 2001 (during my study) I established this communications agency together with a fellow classmate. The agency focuses on communication strategy and public relations. I still maintain good relationships, but I am no longer affiliated with the company.

In the second half of 2002 I did an internship at KW communicatie in Heerde. During five months I worked on several projects for governmental institutions, healthcare centers and companies in b2b and b2c-markets. I also joined the managing partner as assistant when visiting clients.
