On the quest to keep developing new design processes coupled with my art practice excites me to design new brands that connect.Like any artist or musician we are always in constant flux of creative development. It is that constant search for creating that drives my passion as a brand designer.Ok, before I tell you about what makes me different, here is, a quick para about my experience.I studied design and communication at AUT, worked for a pioneer digital firm in the 90s called Terabyte under the founder Craig Meek, and used that as a platform to shoot to the USA, Europe and Asia, where I landed a role as a Creative Director at News Limited, digital arm in Sydney to help drive the Fox Sports.com.au and News.com.au online entities. That still wasn’t enough, and two years later, I decided to form a boutique digital firm in 2001 and called it Frontend. It was a great little company that helped improve online experiences for Vodafone, Spark, State Insurance, MTF Finance, AMP Life and some yummy smaller clients too like the Louis Vuitton Cup.However, to maintain that energy and passion in my work required a fresh approach.. So we decided it was time to move my family to Raglan for a more nurturing environment for us to grow in. I believe we are all kids in this world and the need to keep growing and learning like your kids was important for all of us. It was here I became immersed in a smaller creative town, playing on the water, learning how to kite foil and discovering a real passion for branding. An evolutionary tack away from the corporate UX and UI environment back in Auckland. So I rebranded to DickeyBird.com Limited. With a studio above Raglan Roast, off the main street, I find myself inspired to begin each day paddle boarding into my studio to create brands that are honest and connect emotively with my clients' customers.Let's chat. 021 610 400 or send me an email to simon@dickeybird.com
