The Bakkavor Group is a leading multi-national manufacturer of fresh prepared foods into the major supermarkets. The group has over 40 facilities predominantly in the UK and a 15,000 strong workforce.As Systems Development Manager I am responsible for the company's development team (including full-time employees, contractors and off-shore resources), architecture, short-term and strategic planning and resource scheduling.The team are responsible for the company's EDI, ERP and Warehousing systems. Our software processes Sales Orders and Invoices over £1bn in value. Our software is designed for resilience and adaptability, typically deployed in fail-over clusters for high availability.Our work is mostly oriented around the Microsoft stack - .Net, MVC, SQL Server, WebAPI, WCF, BizTalk and reporting tools. We also work with some non-Microsoft tools such as AngularJS, Crystal Reports, Qlikview and Oracle.

My role at Bakkavor as a Senior Systems Developer involved implementing enterprise scale software solutions with a focus on integrating ERP/EDI/Warehouse Management Systems using technologies such as Microsoft BizTalk, WCF, C#, ASP.Net, SQL Server and reporting tools. The role demands an extremely broad knowledge of development from Message Queues, to BI, to AngularJS. The broad nature of the corporate environment borders on this being an architectural role as I was responsible making decisions about software design, technologies, architecture and implementation.The role also included line manager duties for other developers including inductions, personal development plans, appraisals, prioritising and scheduling work for the development department etc.Responsible for the SDLC including source control, code reviews, continuous integration and project delivery within the development department.

During my time at Evoke Systems I was employed as a Senior Web Developer working with many technologies including C#, ASP.Net, MS SQL Server (optimised T-SQL / CLR), Linq, jQuery, knockout js, HTML, CSS, Silverlight, WPF and Web API to name a few.Working in an agile development team I helped to create audited and transparent web-based software for the aviation industry used by numerous well-known airlines such as Thomson, Jet2.com and DHL with thousands of end users. Our electronic forms (such as training, journey logs and incident logs) helped to make cumbersome and inefficient paper processes easier and provide valuable insight via analytics such as fuel analysis, on-time performance, development and succession.
