Working with TRACE wildlife forensics network to improving wildlife forensics and Wildlife CSI capacity across Africa.

My research interests largely focus on landscape ecology and in particular how changes in the landscape, both natural and human induced, effect connectivity, diversity and population or environmental stability; all with a view to informing direct conservation action. My PhD research used a genetic approach to studying the lion population of Northern Botswana, centred around the Okavango Delta. The aim of this research was to use a single species approach to ask how natural and anthropogenic barriers to dispersal affect the current and future patterns of genomic divergence through inbreeding depression and altered ecology.

• Ongoing biodiversity monitoring.• Assist with current and ongoing research themes and monitoring (rhino, wild dog, sable, etc.).• Assist and support Honours, BSc and MSc research students.• Develop and execute new lines of conservation and ecological research.

• Coordinating the logistics and staffing of the overseas research programmes (Tanzania, Madagascar, Cambodia, Fiji & Nicaragua). • Developing new projects and proposals, pursuing new lines of research and helping with the continuing quality and relevance of the ongoing research. • Maintenance of scuba diving and terrestrial research equipment. • Training of new staff prior to field deployment and training students in pre-expedition planning for Expedition Management BTEC qualification.• Executed broad scale Biodiversity surveying in the Kilombero valley of southern Tanzania • Designed and ran a lion research programme using calling station surveys and observation of the prides across an extensive flood plain in the Kilombero valley of southern Tanzania.• Ran educational programmes for volunteers joining the research programme and an educational expedition for a small group of inner city London school students.
