Di guardia in navigazione; Responsabile della gestione del Safety Management System (SMS) a bordo, della sicurezza della nave, del suo equipaggio, dei passeggeri e per la prevenzione dell'inquinamento; Rappresentante dell'Armatore nei riguardi di Autorità, Agenti, Spedizionieri, etc.; Cura la preparazione della nave ed assistenza durante le visite di legge e di classe; Redige le annotazioni giornaliere sui Giornali di bordo; Cura la preparazione dei documenti nave per l'arrivo e la partenza e pratiche portuali; Verifica le condizioni meteorologiche prima della partenza della nave; Tiene cura che sia mantenuta la contabilità delle comunicazioni radiotelefoniche; Addestramento dell'equipaggio; Controllo e manutenzione mezzi di salvataggio; Aggiornamento dei Ruoli d'Appello; Controlli apparecchi per la respirazione (ove applicabile); Imbarco sbarco passeggeri; Tenuta giornali RTF/GMDSS; Inventari sezione coperta; Pianificazione del viaggio; Controllo, manutenzione ed efficienza del materiale antincendio; Richieste materiali dalla sezione coperta; Dovrà assicurarsi che tutti i compiti di navigazione e sicurezza ed i controlli giornalieri e periodici richiesti vengano efficacemente eseguiti e regolarmente svolti; Manutenzione della coperta; Ispezione degli spazi vuoti; Organizzazione generale dei Servizi di Sicurezza per i vari casi di emergenza; Programmazione e controllo dell'esecuzione delle esercitazioni nel rispetto delle Norme in vigore e delle procedure; Controllo degli assetti e delle condizioni di stabilità della nave; Predispone continua ed adeguata sorveglianza in corrispondenza delle aperture a scafo della nave assicurandone la puntuale efficienza.

Daily duty in the event of a further overnumerary embarked deck officer on board; Controlling the handling of cargo and the ballast during cargo operation; Management and direction of deck personnel; Training Deck Officer cadets and signs Cadet Record Books (Deck); Responsible for the maintenance of the deck and accommodation; Responsible for crew training, especially crew at first employement with the Company and initial categories; Planning of emergency drills for crew and passengers; Responsible for inspections of void spaces; Preparing required supplies for the Deck department, to be approved by the Master; Responsible for the maintenance of deck life-saving and fire-fighting equipment; Responsible for commanding the ship in the absence of the Master or if he is unable to take command; Responsible of the safety of working site and related compliance with the DLgs271/99 (see manual on safety of working site management); Ship Security Officer; Officer in charge of periodical inspections and maintenance (weekly and monthly) of life- saving equipment, as set out in regulation 20 Chapter III SOLAS; Responsible for the tasks entrusted to the Purser on board passenger ships where the Purser is not on board;

Bridge Watch Keeper as required; Responsible to the Bridge manager for the execution and monitoring of the voyage plan. Loading / unloading operation during the watch. Checking the breathing apparatus, the fire-fighting and life-saving equipment. Delegate person for filling the fire-fighting record book and safety log book maintenance. Assist for weekly / monthly control of the life-saving means. Assist and cooperate with Chief Mate to perform and arrange checks and maintenance as per “Maintenance plan for the fire equipment”. Monitoring and updating radio publication; Member of the prevention and protection service (Italian Legislative Decree 271/99); Working with the Ship’s Master and the head of workplace safety on board the ship in order to implement the hygiene and occupational safety regulation on board established by the Owner; Assist and cooperate with Chief Mate to perform and arrange crew training / familiarization; Proposing training programs and information for the maritime workers on board.

In charge for all Italian payroll, Slop Chest and company. Officer in charge for Victually Account papers; in charge for update HACCP forms. Prepare and send ISPS-Pre-Arrival notification; in charge for update inventory DLG 271 Box.

Assist Officer during watch-keeping, cargo loading and unloading during the watch, control and update of nautical charts, nautical publications and nautical sublies (Admiralty, Tide/Current table, List of Radio and Light Signals).
