I am currently working as an independent consultant on various projects located throughout Italy.As a Chartered Geologist ("Ordine dei Geologi del Lazio", A.P. n° 2082) I am providing geotechnical design, project management and consultancy to private companies and public administrations.A selection of the various projects I have been involved with is provided below:Project: Mitigation of hydraulic risk in Europarco (Rome, Italy)January 2018 – TodayThe project consists of:- Construction of earth embankments on Fosso di Vallerano and Fosso di Acqua Acetosa.- Accessory works (road and concrete structures).Main duties and responsibilities:- Management and surveillance of the works of the main contractor on behalf of the client.- Design of soil embankments- Design, selection and testing of earthwork materials for the embankments.Project: Mini-dam on the main course of Fosso di Pratolungo (Rome, Italy)January - March 2018The project consisted of:- Construction of earth mini-dam on Fosso di Pratolungo, 400 m long and 33 m high.- Accessory works (road and concrete structures).Main duties and responsibilities:- Design, selection and testing of earthwork materials for the embankments.

Project: Sydney Metro Project (Sydney, Australia) - A 270m post tensioned precast concrete cable-stayed bridge, designed and realized in curve.- A 4.6 km post tensioned precast concrete viaduct required to achieve a 100 year design life.- 3 railway embankments, for a total length of 1 km.- 3 road bridges and civil works (car parks, access roads).Main duties and responsibilities:- Selection and testing of suitable earthwork and roadwork materials for railway embankments and civil works.- Management of earthwork material supply to realize the embankments.- Management of the concrete supplier during all stages of the project. This included the designing of materials (including Conventional Vibrated Concrete, Self-Compacting Concrete, shotcrete, etc.) to the pouring on site and testing.- Management of a team of technicians, geologists and engineers for testing and monitoring phases during construction.- Revision of the design in regard to earthwork and concrete structures, together with the technical office team and the designers.- Study of practical solutions together with the construction team in order to simplify, accelerate and improve the quality of the job on site.- Reporting to the client (Transport for New South Wales).- Development of repair specification and oversight of repairs.

Ulu Jelay Hydroelectric Project - Cameron Highlands, Malaysia

Project: Ulu Jelai Hydroelectric Project (Malaysia) - 80 m high dam in RCC (Roller-Compacted Concrete), roads, bridges and civil works- Underground caverns for the hydroelectric station and 26 km of water-transfer tunnels, excavated by TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) and NATM (New Austrian Tunneling Method).Main duties and responsibilities:- Geotechnical assessments of tunnels, caverns, dam foundations, embankments, slopes.- Installation and monitoring of geotechnical instrumentation in tunnels, underground caverns and dam foundations.- Design and testing of earthwork materials, mixtures, stabilized soils for embankments, coffer-dam, roads and other civil works.- Design and testing of concrete, Roller-Compacted Concrete, grout, earthwork materials, shotcrete both in site material laboratory and on site.- Management of laboratory technicians and engineers.- Discussion with the designers and the client of new constructive solutions, in order to simplify, accelerate and improve the quality of the job on site.

Main duties and responsibilities:- Execution of geotechnical/geological studies for companies (Autostrade S.p.A., Pavimental S.p.A., etc.), governments (national, regional and local councils, Vatican City) and privates.- site and laboratory geotechnical testing on rocks, soils and earthwork materials.- Geotechnical studies of shallow and deep foundations.- Geological/geotechnical studies of slope stability.- Hydraulic tests and hydrogeological studies of watercourses.- Geological/environmental studies of polluted sites.- Geological/geophysical studies of seismic micro-zonation.- Studying of new engineering solutions together with the clients and other professionals, in order to improve the final quality of the work and reduce the costs.

Project: Nuovo Palazzo Congressi “Cloud of Fuksas” (Rome, Italy) - conference centre, with ground foundations 15 metres below the road level.Main duties and responsibilities:- installation and monitoring of geotechnical instrumentation in the ground foundations.
