In comparison to previous standards of care, cancer immunotherapy improved the prognosis of patients in terms of lifespan and quality of life significantly. However, since the response to immunotherapies is very diverse and the basic mechanisms of therapy resistance are largely unknown, my research focuses on elucidating the resistance mechanisms of different tumors to immunotherapy. My aim is to monitor tumor immune responses and to identify immune cells involved in tumor response by labeling antibodies targeting specific structures on tumor- or immune cells and to follow their biodistribution in vitro and in vivo using PET/MRI. The overall goal is then to identify predictive factors in order to apply treatments selectively.
