I really enjoyed my first health care job in Australia. I worked in community care in Melbourne, either in the city or outskirts, providing personal care, including hygiene, hoisting and social outings for a wide range of clients with different medical and special needs.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the hospital and I learnt many new skills. Along with the ward’s registered nurse I would look after an average of 9 patients, insuring all aspects of care were delivered to the highest standard, from personal care to taking observations and changing wound dressings. I was also selected to be the ‘Falls Champion’ for the ward as part of the hospital’s Prevention of Falls scheme.
