As ZeClinics CEO, my responsibility will be sustaining the company growth and expand its business globally. Moreover, I will contribute with my experience and knowledge to drive the company to another level in which ZeClinics will be the referent of zebrafish in the pharmaceutical sector. Our challenge we will be to bring this fantastic animal model to all the drug discovery pipelines of the world.

My principal responsibility is directing the Commercial Department at ZeClinics. I am in charge of finding new commercial opportunities, generating potential leads, translating market needs or trends to technical department and finally providing customer services.

ZeClinics is a start-up CRO, founded in June 2013. We provide our expertise in the use of zebrafish to pharmaceutical and biotech companies to innovate the preclinical phase of drug discovery. We offer assays of general and organo-specific toxicity and efficacy in the fields of oncology and neural disorders. Besides our interest in pharma industry services, ZeClinics establish partnerships with academic groups interested in using zebrafish in their research & development.As ZeClinics CTO I am in charge of the scientific and technological issues of the company. I closely follow the portfolio of experimental assays that ZeClinics offers and the new technical strategies that the company undertakes.

ZeCardio Therapeutics (ZeCardioTx) is a pharma company that will change the way we discover cardiovascular drugs. To do so, ZeCardioTx profits from using the zebrafish model and an innovative, proprietary screening and analysis platform, ZeCardio®, which allows the effective, cost-efficient and rapid discovery of therapeutic molecules.

My PhD was focused in developmental biology. Using zebrafish animal model I studied the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in the segregation of cellular populations that belong to the hindbrain, that is the third vesicle of the brain.I combined classical in vitro approaches with the most modern advances in the confocal microscopy that nowadays allow us to observe what happens inside every single cell during time.My results made step forward in the field of basic developmental biology and confirm again that exists a link between gene regulation and the biomechanics in morphogenetic processes and importantly that many more mechanisms than expected are conserved between vertebrates and flies.Part of this work was accepted for publication in EMBO journal. In the last part of thesis I performed also other experiments that are now ready to be published. The work was presented in different national and international meetings: in the European Zebrafish Meeting 2013, in the International Zebrafish development meeting 2012, Barcelona Developmental Biology Joint Retreat 2011, EMBO frontiers in sensory and Development 2011.
