In the ELV I have been working on the development of the GNC of LYRA launcher vehicle which is a new three stages launcher studied by ELV. ELV (European Launch Vehicle) is a company established by Avio and ASI (Italian Space Agency) in December 2000. It was selected by ESA, the European Space Agency, to serve as prime contractor in the activities geared to the development of the European launcher, called VEGA, and other small launchers with all associated technologies. The company is responsible for every aspect of system development, from the drafting of the specifications, through production, to its integration in the launch pad. In the SPARTAN project (http://www.spartanproject.eu/) I have been in charge of designing the navigation architecture and the sensors selection and calibration. This project is dedicated to the hybrid propulsion with the flight testing of a lander mock up to be thrown by a helicopter from 300 meters altitude. Hybrid Propulsion shall be used to control the vertical descent and the spacecraft attitude. GMV is in charge of the whole GNC chain brad boarding. I have developed a relevant experience in GPS aided inertial navigation system and Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS) architecture, processing SW and calibration procedures.With the projects VVAF and ELFTT I have actively worked to worst case analysis framework for a Rendezvous scenario. This framework integrates several approaches to identify the worst case: Montecarlo based, Optimization based and mu-analysis on a linearized model.Within AIR-GNC project and FEST I worked primarily in the design and development of sensors (camera, laser altimeter, IMU) used for the Rendezvous and Docking contributing to the development of each navigation filter used in the two different simulators. I have worked on several navigation filters: extended Kalman, Unscented Kalman and Recursive Least Square. In the EUM-AADD project I have been developing new functionality for a very accurate orbital perturbation simulator, satisfying the ECSS-E-ST 40C standards in what regard the accurate models to use (Atmospheric, Magnetic, J2 perturbation etc…) to compute the disturbances.With the project VISIONTool I designed and developed software that is able to visualize the simulator output using the virtual reality of a generic simulator, with Vrbuild toolbox of Simulink.With all these projects I have developed the experience to write structured technical documentation and the ability to manage the internal/external RIDs following the ESA’s formalism.
