After finishing my medical studies I worked as a GP, in a psychiatric ward, as well in a department of internal diseases. During the last 30 years I worked as an occupational physician within a variety of commercial and community-based organisations. I was responsible for (preventive) occupational health care for employees/ workers of different functioning and educational level. I developed and gave training/ instruction courses to management and workers on different work-related subjects. My focus is to add to workers' possibilities to cope with (combined medical and) situational problems. From 1991-1996 I also served as a senior post graduate trainer/ lecturer for medical doctors wanting to become an occupational health medical specialist, and during that period headed this specific educational department (Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen, SGBO).I received the Reinier Zielhuis Penning penning, a achievement award for the best scientific research project in 1990, done by specializing OHP.I participated as a focus group OHP-member in the Balance@Work project, developing a protocol for the OHP-role in preventive health promotion activities for employees; also in the protocol group that developed a guideline for Participation Behavior, a cooperation of OHP and Insurance physicians.
