In today’s world especially in South Africa, event managers are needed in almost any kind of business – entertainment, finance, government, retail, fashion, sport and music. This is a real day to day job which can be filled with a huge range of exciting challenges and unique situations which emphasises my passion and ambition towards the field of event management.Whilst completing two years of my three-year Diploma in Event Management, equipped me to co-ordinate, planning and executing of an event and to work with external people, teams and features. My goal is to ultimately execute people’s dreams into a reality. Successful events depend on every team and every team member doing their job to a high standard, as well as being flexible and committed to have a good cross-team communication. An successful event management team needs strong leader to be at its best, whether it means to negotiate between clients, suppliers, company or venue staff require flexibility, quick thinking, buckets of initiative and exceptional decision making and being part of knowing how the outside world operates and having the theoretical knowledge of what to do when, and how to plan and execute an event looking at possible risks that may occur. I am confident in my skill set to take the lead.As my dream of becoming an Event Planner/ Manager that specialises in the wedding industry, I am almost a qualified student and I’m able to follow a career in wedding planning and co-ordination or, other fields that I would like to specialise in will have to be - such as adventurous sporting events.
