Involved in three ongoing research projects to analyze the germline and fungal partners of Platanthera orchid hybrids. Currently using molecular and bioinformatic techniques to study sequence diversity, mycorrhizal fungi relationships, and orchid speciation.

Identified orchid mycorrhizal fungi of Plantanthera Hybrids and tested primers to differentiate hybrid complex. Conducted field work and cross-pollinations.

Identified the germination conditions for orchids in the genus Platanthera. Ran extractions, PCR amplification, sequencing, and identification of orchid mycorrhizal fungi.

Developed and conducted an independent research project on the interactions between the orchid Galearis Spectabilis, Ceratobasidium fungi, and potentially trees.

Proposed and wrote 12 chapters on the chemistry and physics content not covered in the conventional biology textbook for Principals of Organismal Biology III (BSCI207). The IntegrateBio textbook is read by 600+ students a year.

Analyzing the role of the mismatch repair protein pathway in meiosis with yeast models. Using a fluorescent-based mutational screen to study the role of a particular protein in directing asymmetrical cleavage of double Holliday junctions.
