Prof. Dr. Simone Farah is a medical doctor, graduated from the Severino Sombra University, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2004. She specialized in Cardiology by the National Institute of Cardiology in Rio de Janeiro (2005-2006) and is a specialist by the Brazilian Society of Cardiology. In 2008, she completed her specialization in Cardiac Arrhythmia at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). In the same year, she joined the Military Fire Department of the State of Rio de Janeiro (CBMERJ) where she currently practices cardiology and cardiac arrhythmia, being responsible for the creation and maintenance of the first cardiac arrhythmia clinic and also had organized and coordinated the first telemedicine project at the military corporation. She was one of the founders of the Telecardiology Project of the State Health Department of Rio de Janeiro for 22 medical emergency units, during the period from 2009 to 2013, participating in more than 15.000 synchronous teleconsultations. In 2017, she defended the master's degree from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), becoming the first master's in Telemedicine and Telehealth in the country. Completed an MBA in Knowledge Management and Business Intelligence (MBKM) in 2019 at COPPE/UFRJ. She is an associate professor at the Faculty of Medicine of Petrópolis, (FMP/UNIFASE), Rio de Janeiro. In 2021 she was the founder of a pilot projetc in Telemedicine assisting primare care patients and created the first course of Telemedicine and Digital health of this University. Dr Farah is also tutor professor in the Postgraduate Program in Telemedicine and Telehealth - UERJ.She has vast experience in managing outpatients and hospitalized patient and has already participated in several national and international congresses in cardiology, cardiac arrhythmia and telemedicine. In addition, she has published in many different scientific journals, receiving in 2017 a awarded work in the Brazilian Telemedicine and Telehealth congress and featured article in 2019 in The International Journal of Cardiovascular Sciense. Dr. Farah is the Coordinator of the Student Membership of the International Society for Telemedicine and e-Health and a member of the Technical Chamber of Health Informatics and Telemedicine of The Regional Council of Medicine of Rio de Janeiro.
