Simone Freeman opened her first business at the age of 20 while attending George Washington University. in 2012, she moved back to Chicago and opened Sol Cafe in Rogers Park at the behest of the neighborhood, Sol Cafe, now in its 9th year of operation, has become a creative hub + safe space for the neighboring community. Within its tenure, Sol Suppers became a staple event providing affordable and alternative dining experiences highlighting local chefs, shared plates and drag performances. In 2019, she founded Freeman House Chai, a small batch microbrewed chai company, which can be found all over the city of Chicago. At the start of the pandemic, Simone began the pop-up series Wild Child Eats, as a safe and engaging way to bring the community together while raising funds for hyper-local organizations. Over the course of its 2020 season, they were able to donate over $10,000 to various Chicago organizations. Simone has been highlighted in Vocalo Radio, Chi Sounds Like, The Reader, Chicago Tribune, Bossy Chicago, Innovation Awards & TimeOut: Best of Chicago Award.
