Duty Engineer for Ross River Dam in the Flood Operations Team. The role involved monitoring several inputs including recorded rainfall, dam levels, rainfall forecasts from the Bureau of Meteorology, and running models to inform decision-making. Taking into account the manual and the numerous other inputs being monitored, the duty engineer manages controlled releases from the flood storage compartment to minimise downstream impacts. During flood events in the Ross River (directly upstream of Townsville) the duty engineer role required 24 hour staff mobilisation at the Flood Operations Centre for the team of four, operating in 8 hour shifts.

This was a $70M alliance contract involving the upgrading of BVSC’s 6 existing sewerage treatment plants and the construction of five low pressure sewerage systems and MBR treatment plants in villages throughout the Shire.
