👋🏽 I'm Simone Jacobs, LCSW-C, LICSW, Founder and CEO of Takoma Therapy, a Black-owned, woman-led group therapy practice serving the DC metro area.My approach to mental health is rooted in a belief that symptoms aren't the problem—they're powerful solutions developed to make sense of and manage traumatic experiences. This philosophy is at the heart of my co-authored book, "Understanding the Paradox of Surviving Childhood Trauma" (Routledge), and guides our work at Takoma Therapy.With over 20 years in the field, my specialty lies in supporting BIPOC individuals, particularly women, in navigating race, gender, and intergenerational trauma. Takoma Therapy provides culturally attuned, inclusive care that guides clients on a journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and healing.Since our founding, Takoma Therapy has grown from a solo practice to a thriving team of 25 clinicians, reflecting our commitment to accessible and compassionate mental health care.
