I was born and raised in Rome, Italy.While studying architecture in the '90s, I became involved with a student movement and participated in many cultural happenings and artistic events that included shooting videos. Through this experience I found my path to work in a field I was immediately passionate about: cinematography.I then began working with feature films as a camera assistant while also exploring art films. In 2001 I moved on to being a camera operator and in 2002 director Matteo Garrone asked me to work as director of photography and finish his movie "L'imbalsamatore" (The Embalmer), which had been started by another d.o.p.Since then I have worked as a cinematographer for feature films, documentaries, short films and music videos. An art documentary I directed in 2003 "Carol Rama: More and Even More" is still screened nowaday in museums around the world.For both work and passion I have travelled to: Albania, Argentina, Bolivia, Cambodia, Cook Islands, Cuba, Fiji, French Polynesia, India, Jordan, Perù, Philippines, Serbia, Tanzania, Tonga, Turkey, U.S.A., Vietnam and most Western European countries. Lately I just published "Parchi gioco a Berlino. La guida impossibile" a photographic guide to Berlin’s playgrounds with information sheets, neighborhood maps, sights, tidbits and itineraries to discover the city in an unusual way (the english revisited version of the guide: "The Impossible Berlin Playgrounds Guide" was published in 2019).I now live between Rome, Bologna and Berlin.
