We are a rural K-8 school in the village of South Strafford, VT with about 100 students. I have a fixed schedule of weekly library time for grades K-4; embed as librarian in grades 5-6; and teach elective courses in technology and media literacy to grades 7-8.My library program is focused on building information fluency, library skills, and media literacy. I enjoy using multimedia tools as part of our library lessons, and providing students with opportunities to express themselves and explore their interests. My technology curriculum stresses relevant skills and real-life issues around the role technology plays in the 21st century.The library is a welcoming location on campus, with a collection policy that favors diversity and appeal to a wide range of reading levels and interests. I have undertaken massive weeding projects to make the overall collection (about 5,000 volumes) more attractive to users, and I have been working hard to update the collection within the confines of a limited budget. I regularly assist faculty with selecting and troubleshooting technological resources for the classroom, and act as the on-site IT facilitator. I have conducted trainings in new technology, Google Apps, and creating on online presence for the classroom both at the school and supervisory union level. I am responsible for purchasing, administering, and maintaining school's inventory of Chromebooks, iPads, and other educational technology, including licenses for web-based tools.As part of my position, I sit on the school's technology committee, and the White River Valley Supervisory Union's digital learning committee; I also serve as webmaster for the school's website, and sat on the Supervisory Union's website redevelopment team.

Taught weekly classes in library skills, literature appreciation and information literacy to grades K-8. Developed and maintained a collection of resources to suit readers' and curricular needs. Established guidelines and processes for the selection, acquisition and circulation of library materials. Prepared, justified, and administered the school library program budget to support specific program goals.

Supported the Library Media Specialist in the day-to-day operation of a school library servicing 1300 students plus faculty, including: all circulation, access, and reference services; cataloging; reader’s advisory; and maintenance of the Library web pages. Served as library representative on the Curriculum Committee.

Provided circulation, access and reference services to students and patrons and presented library instruction to classes at the request of faculty. Responsible for closing the Library each day; opening and closing on Saturdays.

Performed retrospective conversion of fiction, non-fiction and reference collections to bring in line with DDC21. Responsible for ordering and acquisition of new books.
