Current Determining the best and safest course of action for pain management during the medical procedure and afterwards. Evaluating the patient's medical history and special requirements to come up with the optimal course of action. Monitoring patient before, during, and after anaesthesia and counteracting adverse reactions or complications. Providing and maintaining life support and airway management, and helping prepare patients for emergency surgery. Recording type and amount of anaesthesia to be administered and patient condition throughout the treatment procedure. Administering anaesthetic or sedation during medical procedures, using local, intravenous, spinal, or caudal methods. Examining patient, obtaining medical history, and analyzing diagnostic test outcomes to determine risk during surgical, obstetrical, and other medical procedures. Reviewing patient's chart, including lab, X-ray, ECG, and other information, to evaluate physical status and anaesthesia risk. Handling anaesthesia cases, ICU-patients, and pain treatments. Administering local, intravenous, or other anaesthetics following specified methods and procedures. Observing condition of patient during surgical procedures, including skin colour, dilation of pupils, and vital signs; initiating remedial measures to prevent surgical shock or other adverse conditions as required. Accompanying patient to recovery area and remaining until patient's immediate condition is acceptable. Documenting anaesthesia notes on patient records and responding to patient resuscitation calls. Maintaining professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, professional affiliations and scientific publications and attending leading conferences. Serving as ICU (paediatric care) and pain control specialist.
