Responsible for managing all practice activity and ensuring the efficient management of the practice fund to optimise quality of patient care. Key responsibilities included all areas of HR/OD and people management, involvement in business planning from identifying future strategy and objectives to production of the practice business plan, facilitation of the planning process and strategic development of the GP Fundholding Budget, preparation of practice accounts, staff salaries and end of year tax returns. I was also actively involved in training practice staff and teaching medical students the fundamentals of practice management and finance. This was a new role in an expanding practice that provided me with the opportunity to develop and utilise my HR/Business skills. I found this to be a very satisfying role as it offered challenge, change and opportunities.
