Hey there! I'm Simone, a human biology and sports & nutrition enthusiast. I love to dive into the inner workings of the human body and discover how mechanisms and pathways respond to different factors, especially to physical activity and nutrition. In my academic career, while trying to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms that govern human physiology, I've had the chance to gain some experience in both clinical and 'in vitro' studies during my academic studies in Health Sciences (BSc) and Human Movement Sciences (MSc) at the Maastricht University. Thereafter, until the start of 2024, I worked as a research employee in a unique clinical study called 'The Maastricht Study', in which investigating the causes and treatments for (onset of) type 2 diabetes was the core of the whole research. Currently, I'm working as a laboratory technician for the Quality Control department of Basic Pharma, which enables me to grow my skill set and apply my critical thinking daily.I'm also a language lover: I am fluent in Italian, Spanish, English, and Dutch, and I have a basic knowledge of German and French.... and I've started to learn Arabic. I love the way my multi-lingual background allows me to communicate and connect every single day with many people from different cultural realities.Also: I’m a quick learner and constantly seeking to expand my knowledge and skills. I am confident that my passion for human biology, combined with my multi-lingual skills and my strong work ethic, will enable me to make a valuable contribution to our society. Therefore, I’m excited to continue my professional development and make a real impact!Besides focusing on my professional path, I always try to help others in as many ways as I possibly can. In trying to do so, I spent 13 unforgettable months as a volunteer in an international welcoming center in Israel, during which I gained a priceless experience. Working with people from diverse cultures during this time abroad not only broadened my perspective but also increased my ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with people in different situations.I’m grateful for the experiences I’ve lived through so far, especially for the people I’ve met, but I’m sure the best part has yet to come!
