Guinea-Bissau

Worked in close collaboration with UNDP-GEF and UNDP-Country Office in Guinea Bissau and organized a series of awareness-raising workshops to increase awareness and understanding of Guinea-Bissau's existing national policies and legislation. The purpose of this consultancy is to improve the compliance of national polices and legal instruments to MEAs (Multilateral Environmental Agreements) following the key activities:- Visit Bissau, to consult the relevant players, attend meetings with the Ministry of Finance as needed, and discuss the main findings with Project Management Unit (PMU) and UNDP;- Convene a series of sensitization workshops to increase awareness and understanding of Guinea-Bissau's existing national policies and legislation as they specifically support or constrain environmental protection, sustainable management of critical ecosystem services, and the extent to which to work towards or against Guinea-Bissau's efforts to comply with MEAs, and the three Rio Conventions;- Learning-by-doing workshops on instruments for MEAs compliance.These workshops will provide training on better methodologies to meet a minimum set of national accounting requirements in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, but which will also include those that target an assessment of economic values of environmental goods and services;- Elaborate a final training report regarding the targeted awareness-raising workshops on national policy and legal instruments for improved compliance to MEAs.
