Secondment into Auckland Council's Recovery Office to assist with the recovery programme from the Auckland Anniversary Floods and Cyclone Gabrielle.Key responsibilities include:- being the main contact point in and out of the Tāmaki Makaurau Recovery Office for the Piha and Karekare communities, and fronting the community on recovery-related activities- building relationships and trust with key community contacts and groups, individual community members and key recovery partners (including internal, external, and political)- providing tactical and strategic feedback from on-the-ground to inform Recovery Office activities- leading and co-ordinating significant engagement programmes with the community, including establishing regular community communications, leading public meetings, and co-ordinating and project managing key recovery projects in the community- providing advice and resolution to members of the public on recovery-related issues, including problem-solving and escalation to recovery partners as required.

Working with the Canterbury Regional Forums secretariat, providing support to Canterbury Mayors and Chief Executives on regional issues, including:- building and improving relationships between councils across Canterbury, and their engagement with key stakeholders such as local iwi- providing strategic advice to Mayors, Chief Executives, and senior managers across a range of topics, including regional economic development, water management, immigration policy, local government administration, environmental management, transport, and tourism- preparing and reviewing agendas and papers for Regional Forum meetings at the Mayoral, Chief Executive and senior manager level- advocacy on regional issues, including preparation of submissions, communication with central government departments and Ministers, and development of region-wide advocacy positions.
