Primary duties include researching and analysing local and foreign fixed income securities while also generating new fixed income ideas. The research process involves reviewing published financial statements of fixed income issuers, modelling and forecasting the financial data whilst also meeting with the management of fixed income issuers on either an ad-hoc basis or through analyst conference calls.On a weekly basis I present a fixed income market update to the Investment Committee members. The presentation provides a summary of the key events within the foreign credit markets (both sovereign and corporates) together with the factors that may have influenced the performance of fixed income securities during that particular week.I also prepare the fixed income strategy report which is presented to the Strategy group which provides members with a round-up of the key events that occurred within the European, American and British sovereign and credit markets over the preceding month. The report also provides an outlook on each of the credit markets together with asset class and industry preferences.Other responsibilities also include writing bi-monthly articles which feature both on the company's corporate website and on the Sunday Times of Malta.
