In 2021, we are aiming for a truly break out year with more events and ever more impact than before - reaching out to #unexpectedvoices everywhere.WSD events may be small and local, or large and global. They range from a schools in Sumatra, to a univerity lecture halls in Lagos or Mexico, to the Parliament Building in Ulaan Baatar. Anyone can apply to hold a WSD event and,anyone can speak.President Kennedy once said that “the only reason to make a speech is to change the world.” World Speech Day is founded around a simple theme: For a Better World. Everyone who takes part in World Speech Day will be encouraged to put forward their ideas on how to make the world better, in business, in science, the arts, or simply through their local community. WSD can act as a source for new thinking – releasing the “wisdom of crowds” – gathering ideas from #unexpectedvoices. It is about tapping into the truly original and inspirational – and then making these voices available. Events are usually recorded to live stream or on video (wherever possible and however simply), forming a unique resource, available on wide range of platforms, such as the WSD YouTube channel.
