With over twenty five years experience working in pre-hospital care, Simon is a highly competent and diligent clinician. Currently working on the Clinical Support Desk, he was previously a Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and Urban Search and Rescue (USaR) Paramedic and Emergency Care Practitioner for WMAS, where he also became a Safe Working at Height (SWaH) and rope access instructor, clinical lead and sat on various clinical groups for the ambulance service.Soon after qualifying as a paramedic in 2000 a strong interest in the field of humanitarian and austere environment working developed, having been to Sierra Leone towards the end of the civil war with a childrens charity. Since then his humanitarian work has taken him to various countries including Sierra Leone, Chad, Mozambique, Syria, The Gambia and Ukraine working with small independent charities and large international agencies. In 2015 he went to the Nepal earthquake as part of a medical team with Humanity First, delivering emergency and primary care to over one thousand people in a remote mountainous region.Simon has instructor qualifications in various pre-hospital and rescue disciplines, has maintained competency in Safe Working at Height, Confined Space and Swift Water Rescue, and has delivered training to national and international audiences. In 2017 he set up Red-2 Medical, providing medical training to health care professionals, private individuals, small companies and public organisations. With a strong passion in delivering high quality training, emergency care and clinical governance, he is a proficient team player capable of working in different environments under pressure either as part of team or independently, whilst delivering high standards of clinical care to those in need.
