Cardiac Risk in the Young ( CRY ) is a charity devoted to the elimination of sudden Cardiac related death in young people , which is undiagnosed and undetected until death .It raises awareness, provides bereavement counselling and offers screening services.The Charity also engages in research and development to try and eradicate the condition .12 young people at least die of this condition every week in the UK .A great friend of mine died in 2015 of a sudden cardiac failure.Watch this space for my very last athletic effort in his honour and on behalf of CRY,ten years on from my first charity run.

Founded by Ed and Lois Jackson. Ed was a fine professional rugby player, probably learned his great ball skills from beach rugby with me and his Dad over the years. He had a catastrophic injury in 2017 which left him paralysed from the shoulders down and facing life in a wheelchair.He has since made an incredible recovery which he puts down in large part to the physical challenges he set himself after the accident and especially those in the mountains - not forgetting the intense rehab he went though for months on end.' It wasn't the body the mountains healed but my mind'.Ed wanted to share these experiences with others who would benefit from them so in 2019 he established the Millimetres 2 Mountains foundation to facilitate exactly that. Creating adventures and experiences coupled with personalised after care programmes to help people look to a brighter future.To go through these experiences and use them to help others is something I respect and admire hugely. This charity will go places and I am thrilled to be involved.
