Simon works as a Electrical Designer and Checker at Outline Design (Form A) and Detailed Design (Form B) stage for ETE, HV feeder, depot protection and shore supplies, signalling power supplies and LV ‘small’ power supplies.He is a Senior Engineer at Rail Power Solutions on projects involving the renewal and reinforcement of 3rd and 4th rail DC ETE. Projects range from: o 3rd and 4th conductor rail design to suit new track configurations on main-line railway, sidings and depots;o Reinforcement of DC track feeder, continuity and negative traction return cables;o DC switchgear modifications to suit DC track feeder cable reinforcement;o Installation of Track Isolation Switches (TIS) and hook switches;o Modifications to depot protection and depot DC shore supplies to suit maintenance shed extensions;o 3rd and 4th conductor rail gapping analysis for new main-line and depot track configurations.He also produces renewal and enhancement designs for UK southern region substations. This includes:o Renewal of HV feeder cables and associated HV unit protection circuit;o HV feeder ‘solid’ and oil-filled cable insertions as part railway structure improvement projects;o Pilot cable renewals and insertions;o Substation earthing renewal projects to convert UK southern region substations from ‘hot’ to ‘cold’ sites.

Simon worked as a Designer producing Conceptual Design Statements and Compliance Submissions for ETE renewal and enhancement projects.He was a Power Engineer at London Underground (TfL) on projects involving the renewal and reinforcement of 4th rail DC ETE. Projects range from: o 4th conductor rail design to suit new track configurations on main-line railway;o Reinforcement of DC track feeder and continuity cables;o Installation of Track Isolation Switches (TIS).

Simon worked as a E&M Engineer providing design assurance for LV electrical designs.Design assurance was provided for the following:o Platform and walkway lighting equipment;o Points heating equipment;o Customer Information Services equipment;o Earthing and bonding of station platform infrastructure.He also produced lighting designs for platform, level crossing and walkways and emergency lighting designs for platforms and exit routes.

Simon worked as Electrification and Plant Project Engineer at Waterloo General Offices, working within Investment Projects for Wessex, Sussex and Kent alongside signalling engineers.He was the E&P representative for the signalling project team on numerous projects. He liaised with contractors, check their designs and ensure all relevant E&P and Network Rail standards are complied with.He also produced outline designs on several level crossing and re-signalling schemes.

Simon worked as a Designer at Amey, designing power supplies for Railway installations. Designs were produced for level crossings, signalling feeders, medium to large railway stations, signal boxes, points heating, hot axle box detector units and voice recorder units.
