About Simon Palmer
I have been a software engineer for 30 years during which time I have held roles in startups and large corporations. Following acquisition of my first startup, I spent 10 years working for Cognos Inc., the last 4 of which was spent in Ottawa, Canada. I then co-founded Clusters Ltd in the UK and spent 3 years in London developing that and other business interests. In 2010 I joined Empathica as CTO and transformed the technical and product side of that business before successfully selling the business in late 2013.Although the majority of my last 15 years has been spent in management and executive roles I endeavour to remain a hands-on engineer with up to date technical skills. I spent four years at LoyaltyOne as CIO and CTO during which time I transformed the people, products and technology and working practices. I also founded Zero Gravity Labs, then the research arm of LoyaltyOne.In mid-2018 I was involved with starting a business in the payments and loyalty space using digital currencies. We were acquired in December 2018 and I was CTO at Coinsquare, Canada's leading digital currency exchange from then until June 2021. My career is dotted with patents in various topics, all software related. I live and work in Toronto, Canada
