I spent the first few years of my career working in advertising where I helped make several websites, wrote strategy, entered a Google Hangouts app into Cannes and had an ad ripped apart on TV by Charlie Brooker. I learnt lots about marketing, branding, culture, making films, dealing with larger than life personalities and leading teams. Along the way, I became curious about the potential that creative methodologies had to change the way we do business. As a Business Designer I now work on projects that require the application of creative and design methods to a wide variety of projects beyond marketing, advertising and communications. My particular areas of focus are design in the public sector, employee experience, organisation design, design leadership and policy design. There are fewer film sets and more spreadsheets but it's fascinating work and great fun. Outside of work I can usually be found mountain biking, travelling or reading.
