I am a highly experienced employment lawyer, an area of law in which I have advised for more than 25 years. My focus is on seeking to achieve the solution which clients want or, if that’s not possible, the next best thing. Although employment law is a technical subject which is constantly changing (that’s what makes it interesting), I always brings a commercial approach to the way in which I advise. The most important question I ask a client in any situation is “what do you want to achieve?”, and my advice is tailored to achieve that.I advise on the full range of employment law and have a particular interest in providing “day to day” advice to corporate clients and also advising on contentious matters. I have expertise in advising on restrictive covenants and business protection and often deals with High Court litigation, whether for an ex-employer, a new employer or an individual. I also conduct claims in the Employment Tribunal and have considerable experience in advising on TUPE and discrimination issues.I have many long-standing clients - I am still advising a corporate client which I first dealt with in 1988. Building that sort of relationship with a client and understanding how their business works is one way I am able to add value.I can help with all employment matters, including:Employment Tribunal claimsDiscriminationDrafting and updating contracts, policies and proceduresDay to day HR advice including recruitment, discipline and grievance procedures, family friendly rights, holiday entitlement and exit strategiesReviewing your employment contracts (and director’s service agreements), policies and procedures to ensure that they are up to date with ever-changing employment lawRestrictive covenants and protection of confidential informationBusiness reorganisations and redundanciesEmployment law aspects of transfers of undertakings, including assisting employers in due diligence exercises and minimising the risk of consequent claims.Outside of law, I am a keen squash player, hill walker and cyclist and have the burden of supporting Charlton Athletic.
